An Introduction to VSAT Technology
Establishment of widespread networks through free space transfer environment and by using telecommunication satellites are called Satellite Telecommunication. In satellite telecommunication connectionpoints are independent from wired telecommunication so this method is the best choice for expanded networks in places without ground and wired system facilities. Very Small Aperture Terminals (VSAT) are part of satellite telecommunication that refer to small ground terminals that transfer information through satellite.

Advantages

  • To provide availability and establishment of integrated networks in places without any kind of ground and wired telecommunications.
  • Quick set up and operation (no need forestablishing a communication infra-structure)
  • Expanded geographical coverage
  • Adaptability in bandwidth modification according to demand
  • Integrated and centeralized management and maintenance
  • Independency between distance and bandwidth expenses.
  • The possibility of broadcasting the information with little bandwidth in all places

Governmental and private organizations, banks, insurance organizations, multi-national organizations and so many other organizations need safe, qualified and beneficial communication routes to develop their services and activities and VSAT networks have always been a good solution to this demand.

The Specifications of Service in Demand

  • As majority of new plans and applications are TCP/IP based, the network must be IP based.
  • The satellite network should have the capability of providing broad band services.
  • The traffic must be closed inside the network and exchanged inside the country.
  • It will be possible to develop the network into many sites with high speed and quality.
  • economic boycott restrictions will not cause any problems in services, customer satisfaction and equipment supply.
